ISO 9001

EiQ Industrial is certified according to the ISO 9001 Standard, which confirms conformity of the Quality Management System to a standard of excellence established by the International Organization for Standardization.
The standard refers to a 30-page document that contains all the requisites needed to obtain such certification. They refer to quality management, quality responsibilities, product realisation, resource management, analyses, monitoring and improvement strategies.
Independent periodic audits are conducted within the company during which all corporate processes are verified at a documental and operational level.

PROTECTION RATING (IP)

Every electric panel produced by EiQ Industrial is guaranteed by a protection rating of IP66 and IP69K. This certification, issued by an independent body, certifies that the company’s products are completely protected against penetration of solids, dusts and strong jets of water at sea wave capacity.

The certification body has verified the conformity of a representative product with specific tests during which it was subjected to 3 minutes of water jets with a volume of 100 litres a minute and a pressure of 100 kilopascals from a distance of three metres.

IP Certification

IP certification, acronym for International Protection Rating, is regulated by the International Standard IEC 60529 and aims to establish the level of protection provided by electrical and electronic device casings:

  • against infiltration of solid elements (including body parts);
  • against dusts;
  • against casual contact;
  • against ingress of water in electrical and mechanical parts.

The IP rating consists of two characteristic digits that uniquely identify the degree of protection.

First digit: protection against solids, dusts and persons against contact with dangerous parts

EiQ Industrial maintains conformity of all its electric panels with regulations in force as it acknowledges the need to guarantee reliable and safe products to its clients.

IK PROTECTION RATING

Electric panels produced by EiQ Industrial are guaranteed by IK protection rating, degree 10.

IK protection rating establishes the protection against mechanical impacts of an electric panel, guaranteeing the sturdiness and safety of the product according to its use.

The protection against mechanical impact of an electric panel is established according to the strength of an external mechanical impact on all sides.

UL CERTIFICATION

The electric panels produced by EiQ Industrial are certified with C-UL-US Listing marking. It indicates that our products meet the requirements of UL (Underwriters Laboratories) Standards in the USA and CSA (Canadian Standard Association) Standards for the Canadian market.
Following a number of tests, our products have been certified in accordance with the specific technical safety requirements established by these bodies.

Underwriters Laboratories

Underwriters Laboratories is one of the major organisations in the USA in the electric panel certification sector, and a global, independent company specialised in the science of product safety and certification. UL conducts routine audits using a series of programmes: UL certification of our electric panels guarantees our customers acceptance by consumers on the US market and conformity with all regulations in force.

The UL Standards attributed to EiQ Industrial products apply to the casings of electrical materials to be installed in non-hazardous environments: in particular, the UL50CSA Standard covers environmental aspects, while the UL50E Standard covers non-environmental aspects.

Classification of our products

In the United States, the protection rating is defined according to the “Type” (type of casing) according to NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) classification.

Contrary to the requirements of EN standards, this includes protection against specific conditions such as corrosion, rust, ice, oils and coolants.

Furthermore, NEMA classification also takes into account use in indoor and outdoor environments and explosion hazard zones.

EiQ Industrial manufactures electric panels with Type 1, 4, 4X, 12 protection ratings.

Type 4X Electric panels used in indoor and outdoor environments, protected against rain, sprays and jets of water and damage caused by ice and are corrosion resistant.
Type 6 Electric panels used in indoor and outdoor environments, protected against entrance of water during temporary immersion at a limited depth; protected against damage caused by ice.
Type 12 Electric panels installed in indoor environments, protected against dusts, dirt, whirls of dust, drops of water and external condensation of non-corrosive liquids.
Type 13 Electric panels installed in indoor environments, protected against lint, infiltration of dusts, external condensation and sprays of water, oil and non-corrosive liquids.
Correlation between TYPE and IP

The correlation between the difference types of casings and their IP rating is defined in the NEMA document no. 250 (Appendix A). The European Standard does not foresee specific degrees of protection against mechanical damage of electrical equipment, explosion risks or particular conditions; consequently the correlation with the IP ratings is not unique and binding.

The correlation between the types of NEMA casings and IP ratings is seen in the chart below. It is an indicative reference, as it is based on the positive outcome of tests on the different types of NEMA casings in relation to the relative associated classifications.

ATEX

For products designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, we provide the Declaration of conformity for group 2, category 3 for zones 2, 22 according to ATEX Directive 2014/34/UE.

Acronym of “ATmosphère EXplosible”, ATEX certification indicates that our products comply with all fundamental health and safety standards in Europe that regulate all types of equipment, protection systems and components designed for use in atmospheres at risk of explosion.

According to the risk area in which the product will be used, the conformity test requirements and procedures (conformity evaluation procedure) have different validities.

Group

The devices are classified into two groups according to the installation environment:

  • Group I: use in mines and/or their equipment above ground.
  • Group II: use in environments other than those in Group l.
Categories

The equipment is classified into categories, according to the risk zone and device groups.

  • Category 1: equipment and protection systems used in environments where there is always, for long or frequent periods, a potentially explosive atmosphere, guaranteeing a very high degree of protection.
  • Category 2: equipment and protection systems used in environments where, during normal operations, there is occasionally or sporadically a potentially explosive atmosphere, guaranteeing a high degree of protection.
  • Category 3: equipment and protection systems used in environments where, during normal operations, there is no, or extremely briefly or rarely a potentially explosive atmosphere, guaranteeing a normal degree of protection.
Zones

Risk zones are established according to the frequency and duration of the presence of potentially explosive atmospheres.

  • Zone 0 : a place in which a potentially explosive atmosphere (mixture of air and inflammable substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist) is present continuously, or for long periods or frequently.
  • Zone 1 : a place in which during normal operations a potentially explosive atmosphere (mixture of air and inflammable substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist) is present occasionally or sporadically.
  • Zone 2 : a place in which during normal operations a potentially explosive atmosphere (mixture of air and inflammable substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist) is not present except briefly or on rare occasions.
  • Zone 20: a place in which a potentially explosive atmosphere (in the form of clouds of combustible dust) is present continuously, or for long periods or frequently.
  • Zone 21: a place in which, during normal operations, a potentially explosive atmosphere (in the form of clouds of combustible dust) is occasionally or sporadically present.
  • Zone 22 : a place in which during normal operations a potentially explosive atmosphere in the form of clouds of combustible dust,  is not present except briefly or on rare occasions.

CE

The electric panels manufactured by EiQ Industrial are certified with CE marking which guarantees conformity of the product with the essential safety requirements of the applicable EU Standards and consequently the marketing of the product in Europe.

As foreseen by the CE marking, EiQ Industrial has drawn up a Declaration of conformity, which states the applicable Directive and the technical standards used. In addition, we have drawn up a “technical dossier” describing the technical specifications of the product and the tests performed to guarantee its safety. This documentation is available on request to the relative Authorities which monitor the market and our clients.
